  Three delegate groups hold meetings to compile proposals

Yangon, 23 Nov - Delegate groups of national races, peasants and other invited persons held group meetings at the designated halls of Nyaunghnapin Camp in Hmawby Township this morning.

Delegate Group of National Races

Alternate Chairman U Mahn Ohn Maung of Kayin State presided over the group meeting together with members of the Panel of Chairmen U Kyaw Din (a) U Htay Yei of Kayah State, U Maung Hla (a) U Hla Myint of Taninthayi Division, Duya Zoak Doung of Shan State (North) and U Aung Zan Wai of Rakhine State.

A total of 471 delegates out of 645 attended the meeting, accounting for 73.02 per cent.

Alternate Chairman U Mahn Ohn Maung delivered an opening address. Leader of the proposal compilation team U Soe Myint of Taninthayi Division explained the clarification made by the Chairman of the National Convention Convening Work Committee on laying down for detailed basic principles of the chapter on Amendment of the Constitution, State Flag, State Seal, National Anthem, and the Capital, the chapter on Transitory Provisions, and the chapter on General Provisions to be included in drafting the State Constitution.

The meeting ended with the concluding remarks by the alternate chairman.

Delegate Group of Peasants

The group meeting was presided over by U Sai Tint Aung of Shan State together with members of the Panel of Chairmen U Kan Nyunt of Sagaing Division and U Tin Maung Kyaw of Magway Division. A total of 82 delegates out of 93 attended the meeting, accounting for 88.17 per cent.

Alternate Chairman U Sai Tint Aung made a speech. The proposal compilation team comprising one delegate each from States and Divisions was formed to compile the proposal concerning the detailed basic principles of the chapter on Amendment of the Constitution, State Flag, State Seal, National Anthem, and the Capital, the chapter on Transitory Provisions, and the chapter on General Provisions to be included in drafting the State Constitution. The alternate chairman gave the concluding remarks.

Delegate Group of Other Invited Persons

At No 8 hall, the group meeting was held. Alternate Chairman Dr Manan Tu Jar of Kachin State Special Region-2 presided over the meeting together with members of the Panel of Chairmen Vice-Chairman of Myanmar History Commission U Sai Aung Tun and U Aung Kham Hti of Shan State (South) Special Region-6. Altogether 58 delegates out of 89, accounting for 65.17 per cent, attended the meeting.

Alternate Chairman Dr Manan Tu Jar gave a speech. U Saw Hla Tun of ChaungU Township and Rakhine State malaria specialist Dr Chan Tha (a) U Nyi Nyi of Sittway Township read the proposal concerning chapters on Election, Political Parties and Provisions on State of Emergency.

Member of the Panel of Chairmen Vice-Chairman of Myanmar History Commission U Sai Aung Tun explained matters concerning the detailed basic principles of the chapter on Amendment of the Constitution, State Flag, State Seal, National Anthem, and the Capital, the chapter on Transitory Provisions, and the chapter on General Provisions to be included in drafting the State Constitution. Later, the alternate chairman gave the concluding remarks.
