National Convention Convening Commission holds meeting 10/2005

YANGON,
27 Dec — The meeting No 10/2005 of the National Convention Convening
Commission was held at the commission office in Nyaunghnapin camp in Hmawby
Township this morning, with an address by Chairman of the commission
Secretary-1 of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Thein Sein.
Also
present were Vice-Chairmen of the commission Chief Justice U Aung Toe and
Minister for Electric Power Maj-Gen Tin Htut, Secretary of the commission
Minister for Information Brig-Gen Kyaw Hsan and members.
Joint
Secretary-2 of the commission Director-General of the Pyithu Hluttaw Office U
Myint Thein acted as master of ceremonies.
In
his address, the Secretary-1 said the National Convention has been in progress
for nearly a month and the tasks and functions of the National Convention are
successful due to systematic management of NCCC, National Convention Convening
Work Committee and National Convention Convening Management Committee and
cooperation of the delegates with national out look.
He
said the eight delegate groups are compiling, reading and discussing proposal
papers regarding the findings of the Chairman of the Work Committee for
communication among the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw, Pyithu Hluttaw, Amyo-tha Hluttaw,
Region and State Hluttaw to be included in legislation sector in drafting the
State Constitution. The delegate groups have almost finished compliling their
proposal papers and they will submit them to the National Convention Plenary
session soon, he said.
He
said the commission is to coordinate the matters in connection with the
formulation of the basic principles and detailed basic principles for the
State Constitution in accord with the objectives of the National Convention.
Rallies to hail the National Convention are being held in states and
divisions.
He
said Management Committee and sub-committees are carrying out their tasks
smoothly. He urged NCCC, Work Committee, Management Committees and
sub-committees to continue to discharge their respective duties until the
successful conclusion of National Convention.
Next,
members of the commission discussed papers presented by Work Committee to the
commission. The Secretary-1 took part in the discussions and the meeting came
to a close at 11.50 am.
