PEACE GROUP OF WA (SPECIAL
REGION 2) DECLARES STANCE
YANGON, 30 Nov — The Peace Group of Wa (Special Region 2) issued the following announcement concerning its stance
on
29 November 2004:
- The Peace Group of Wa (Special Region 2 )will continue to
support the Government, and will continue to endeavour for economic
development and improvement of food, clothing and shelter of the people,
while taking part collectively in the task to maintain peace and stability
in the nation.
- The Peace Group of Wa (Special Region 2) will continue to
maintain the sound foundations of peace of the Wa region it has restored
with the assistance of the Government.
- The Peace Group of Wa (Special Region 2) will continue to
send its delegates to the National Convention. In addition, the Peace Group
will present its own views and suggestions after humble assessment of the
discussions of the national brethren, political parties, and delegates of
all strata of life for emergence of a new constitution and will attend the
National Convention till its successful completion.
- As it has already declared to the nation and the world,
the Peace Group of Wa (Special Region 2) will strive to eradicate the
over-100-year old practice of opium poppy cultivation in the entire region
after June 2005. The Peace Group will constantly make endeavours to prevent
poppy cultivation and narcotic drugs production.
